William Grueb is the Senior Piano Technician at MIT. His duties include but are not limited to concert preparations, classroom and practice room management, inventory analysis, tuning, regulation, voicing, and faculty and artist relations. He maintains over 40 keyboard instruments including pianos, harpsichords, and continuo organ.

Grueb started his musical career as a pianist at a young age. Grueb attended the University of Rhode Island and received a Bachelor of Music degree in Piano Performance and a Master of Music degree in Piano Performance.

Upon completion of his master’s degree at URI, Grueb enrolled in the Piano Technology program at the North Bennet Street School in Boston, Massachusetts. During his time there, he completed a series of rigorous technical exams to attain a status of Registered Piano Technician with the Piano Technician’s Guild. Grueb completed his piano technology studies at NBSSc in June of 2011 and that same month became a staff piano technician for M. Steinert & Sons in Boston where he received exclusive training in Steinway pianos and player system technology. He retained his position with M. Steinert & Sons through July 2019.
